About Ballet Indiana
On behalf of the young dancers participating in Ballet Indiana annually, we would like to introduce our organization to you. In 2011, local ballet professionals, dedicated parents and community members founded our non-profit organization, and since then we have provided unique and life-enriching experiences for hundreds of young dancers while carrying out our mission.
Mission Statement
To inspire a lifelong appreciation for dance by facilitating and supporting high quality performances with artistic excellence.
By following our mission statement, it allows us to participate in our community by accomplishing the following:
- To promote education, diversity, creativity and free expression in dance.
- To enhance the skills that our young dancers gain through the study of ballet as they experience the full preparation of a ballet performance from inception to stage.
- To carry out our commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion through our outreach programs within the Tri-State.
- To encourage community awareness and interest in dance by offering free performances for local school children.
About Our Organization
Each new season we look forward with excitement to the performance of The Nutcracker and our Spring Ballet. In addition to dancer’s rehearsals and education, we have numerous production expenses to cover each year.
Volunteers and staff spend countless hours toward sets, props, costuming and more. Guest artists provide professional-level performance and educational experiences for our dancers. We are also very proud to be the only ballet company in southern Indiana to provide live music for our dancers through our own Ballet Indiana Symphony Orchestra.
- Each season, open auditions bring in students from dance and ballet studios across the Tri-State. This enables all students in our community the experience of creating a beautiful, full-length performance.
- Performance Fees for our dancers are intentionally kept low to ensure our main goal: That all interested youth have the opportunity to participate. With this initiative, Ballet Indiana’s Performance Fees cover less than 20% of our total production costs. We believe that every dedicated dancer should not be limited by financial means.
- Partnerships with local organizations make it possible for Ballet Indiana to provide performance opportunities for children in under served populations. We are also proud to offer free performances for local school children, encouraging community awareness and interest in dance.
